Builds on AccelerationHigher derivative
Summary
Jerk is the rate of change of acceleration with respect to time, the third derivative of position. It does not enter Newton's laws directly, but it measures how abruptly forces change. Engineers limit jerk in lifts, trains, roads and robot arms to make motion smooth and to reduce wear and vibration.
