Kuratowski closure axioms
Definition
Let be a set and let be its power set. A map satisfies the Kuratowski closure axioms if, for all subsets :
- .
- .
- .
- .
Such a map is a closure operator on .
Remarks
Given a closure operator , the sets with are the closed sets of a unique topology on . The closure of each in this topology is . Conversely, the closure in any topological space satisfies the four axioms. So closure operators on and topologies on correspond one to one.
Axiom 4 implies that is monotone: if , then .
Example: on , let be the set of limits of convergent sequences of points of . This is the usual closure, and it satisfies the four axioms.
Non-example: fix a point of a nonempty set and let . Axioms 2, 3 and 4 hold, but , so axiom 1 fails.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
