Local trivialization

Summary

A local trivialization of a map π ⁣:E→B\pi \colon E \to B over an open set UU is a homeomorphism π−1(U)→U×F\pi^{-1}(U) \to U \times F over UU. It says that over UU the map π\pi looks exactly like the projection of a product. A fiber bundle is a map that has a local trivialization around every point of the base. Comparing two local trivializations on an overlap gives the transition functions, which encode how the bundle twists.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
