Commutative algebra Localization Concept

Localization of a module

Summary

Let MM be a module over a commutative ring RR, and let SS be a multiplicative set. The localization of MM at SS is the module S−1MS^{-1}M of fractions m/sm/s with m∈Mm \in M and s∈Ss \in S. It is a module over the localization S−1RS^{-1}R. Localization of modules preserves exact sequences, so it is a basic tool to reduce statements about modules to the local case.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
