Definition
Let be a commutative ring and let be an -module. For a prime ideal , let be the localization of at . The support of is the following subset of the spectrum :
Remarks
If is finitely generated, then , the set of primes that contain the annihilator . In particular the support of a finitely generated module is closed in the Zariski topology. By the local property of vanishing, if and only if .
Example: let and . For a prime , the integer lies outside , and , so . Also since . For , the element is nonzero in , since in for every odd . The same holds for , so .
Non-example of the formula with the annihilator: the -module is not finitely generated, and , so . But , since every element is killed by a nonzero integer. So , and the support is not .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
