Loop algebra

Summary

The loop algebra of a Lie algebra ๐”ค\mathfrak{g} is the Lie algebra ๐”คโŠ—k[t,tโˆ’1]\mathfrak{g} \otimes k[t, t^{-1}] of Laurent polynomial maps into ๐”ค\mathfrak{g}, with the pointwise bracket. Over โ„‚\C, its elements can be seen as maps from the circle โˆฃtโˆฃ=1\abs{t} = 1 to ๐”ค\mathfrak{g} with finite Fourier series. It is the infinitesimal version of a loop group. Adding a one-dimensional center and a derivation to it gives the untwisted affine Lie algebras.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
