Definition
Let be a variety of algebras. A majority term for is a ternary term such that satisfies the identities Equivalently, a majority term is a near-unanimity term of arity .
Remarks
Example: on the Boolean majority function is a majority term of the two-element Boolean algebra. Check: if two arguments equal , then one of the three meets equals and the other two are at most , so the join is . Non-example: the term of abelian groups satisfies , not , so it fails the first identity. In fact no variety of groups other than the trivial variety has a majority term, since such a variety is not congruence-distributive.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
