Many-body localization
Summary
Many-body localization (MBL) is a proposed phase of isolated, interacting quantum systems with strong disorder in which the system never reaches thermal equilibrium. It extends Anderson localization of a single particle to many interacting particles. An MBL system keeps a memory of its initial state forever, in local observables, and so violates the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis. A common characterization is the existence of a complete set of quasi-local conserved quantities.
