Definition
Let , and let be a power series with positive radius of convergence. For , let be the segment . The Mittag-Leffler star of with respect to is the set of all with the following property. has an analytic continuation along the path .
Remarks
Example: for and , the point lies in the star, because the segment from to avoids and is holomorphic on . The star is . Non-example: is not in the star, because the segment from to passes through the pole , where no continuation exists. The star is open, it contains the disc of convergence, and with each point it contains the whole segment from to . For an entire function the star is all of .
