Definition
Let be a directed set and let be a set. A net in indexed by is a map , written . Let be a topological space and let . The net converges to if for every neighbourhood of there is such that for all with .
Remarks
Example: a sequence is a net indexed by with its usual order, and the net converges to exactly when the sequence converges to .
Example: let and let be in the closure of . Let be the set of neighbourhoods of , ordered by when ; this is directed because is a neighbourhood. For each choose . Then converges to : for a neighbourhood take , and every gives .
Non-example: in , the sequence is a net that converges to no point , since the neighbourhood contains for at most two values of .
A point lies in the closure of if and only if some net in converges to it. A space is Hausdorff if and only if every net in it has at most one limit.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
