example

Orders of the elements of the integers modulo 6

Example

Let Z/6Z={0,1,2,3,4,5}\mathbb{Z}/6\mathbb{Z} = \{0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5\} be the integers modulo 66 with addition. The element 22 has order 33, because 2+2+2=6=02 + 2 + 2 = 6 = 0 and 2+2=4≠02 + 2 = 4 \ne 0. The element 33 has order 22, and the elements 11 and 55 have order 66. The element 44 has order 33. Each of the orders 11, 22, 33 and 66 divides 66, as the result on element orders states.

Remarks

The group is abelian, but not each element has order 66.

What this node needs for W1
  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What this needs

To read this node, read these 5 nodes in this order. The foundations come first, and the list ends with this node.

Each node uses the nodes above it. The colour of the bar on a box shows the evidence level, and the box also gives it as text. The list below has the same nodes.
  • no evidence level
  1. Group concept
  2. Integers modulo n concept
  3. Laws of exponents in a group statement
  4. Order of an element definition
  5. Orders of the elements of the integers modulo 6 example
