Pompeiu derivative
Example
Let be a function that is differentiable at every point. Its derivative is a Pompeiu derivative if vanishes on a dense set but is not identically zero. Here is a construction. Let list the rational numbers in , and write for the real cube root. For set The series converges uniformly, and each term is increasing, so is continuous and strictly increasing.
Each difference quotient of at a point is positive and at most , since for real . Use this bound with dominated convergence where the series below is finite, and Fatou's lemma where it is infinite. It follows that has at each a derivative in , namely with for every (one-sided at the end points). Since , every term is at least , so .
Let on the interval . By the rule for the derivative of an inverse function, is differentiable everywhere, with , read as when . So . The derivative vanishes at every point , and these points are dense in because is a homeomorphism. But is not identically zero, since is strictly increasing and a function with zero derivative is constant. So is a Pompeiu derivative.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
