Definition
Let and let have the orthonormal basis . Let . The quantum Fourier transform on is the linear operator with When , the space is the space of qubits and is read in binary. Then is called the quantum Fourier transform on qubits.
Remarks
is unitary: the inner product of two columns is , which is if and otherwise. On amplitudes, maps to with , a normalised discrete Fourier transform with the sign convention .
Example: for , and , the Hadamard gate.
Non-example: the map without the factor is not unitary, since it sends the unit vector to a vector of norm .
For , writing in binary, is the product state . This product form gives a circuit of Hadamard gates, controlled phase gates and a reversal of the order of the qubits.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
