Quasiconvex function
Builds on Vector spaceConvex setLevel set
Definition
Let be a real vector space, let be a convex set, and let be a function. The function is quasiconvex if for all and all .
Remarks
Equivalently, for each the sublevel set is convex; compare level sets. The function is quasiconcave if is quasiconvex. A convex function is quasiconvex, because .
Example: on . Its sublevel sets are for and for , all convex. It is not convex, since .
Non-example: on . With , and , one gets .
