Quotient space
Definition
Let be a field, let be a vector space over , and let be a linear subspace of . For , the coset of is . The quotient space is the set of all cosets with , with the operations for and .
Remarks
The operations are well defined, because is a subspace: the result does not depend on the choice of and in their cosets. Two cosets and are equal if and only if . The zero vector of is the coset . In with the -axis, the cosets are the horizontal lines, and is isomorphic to .
Explanations
L1 human
In the quotient space , we treat two vectors as the same when they differ by a vector of . Each element of is a copy of shifted by some vector. Dividing the plane by a line gives the set of all lines parallel to it, which behaves like a single line.
What this node needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
