Regge calculus
Summary
Regge calculus is a discrete version of general relativity, introduced by Tullio Regge in 1961. Spacetime is approximated by flat simplices glued together, and the geometry is given by the lengths of the edges. Curvature is concentrated on the faces of codimension two, where it is measured by a deficit angle. It is used in numerical relativity and as a starting point for discrete approaches to quantum gravity.
