Ribbon Hopf algebra
Builds on Quasitriangular Hopf algebraHopf algebra
Definition
Let be a quasitriangular Hopf algebra over a field , with coproduct , counit and antipode . Write , let , and let be the Drinfeld element. A ribbon element of is a central invertible element such that:
- .
- .
- .
- .
A ribbon Hopf algebra is a quasitriangular Hopf algebra together with a ribbon element.
Remarks
Example: let be the group algebra of a group with . Then , and is central and invertible. Clauses 1 to 3 read , and clause 4 reads . Non-example: in the same algebra with , the element satisfies clauses 1 and 2 but fails clause 3, since . The Drinfeld element is invertible and satisfies for all . Some authors use in place of , which changes clause 4 to .
