Riesz mean

Summary

A Riesz mean of a series ∑an\sum a_n is a weighted partial sum in which the term ana_n is damped by a factor (1−λn/ω)δ(1 - \lambda_n/\omega)^{\delta}. Here λn\lambda_n is a given increasing sequence and ω\omega is a cut-off that grows to infinity. The series is Riesz summable when these means converge. With λn=n\lambda_n = n and δ=1\delta = 1 the Riesz means at integer cut-offs are the Cesàro means of the partial sums. Riesz means with λn=ln⁡n\lambda_n = \ln n are a standard tool for Dirichlet series in analytic number theory.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
