Robinson arithmetic

Definition
Let be the signature with a constant symbol , a unary function symbol , and binary function symbols and . Robinson arithmetic is the first-order theory in whose axioms are the universal closures of these seven formulas:
- ;
- ;
- ;
- ;
- ;
- ;
- .
Remarks
Example: the natural numbers with , , and the usual addition and multiplication satisfy all seven axioms, so they form a model of .
Non-example: the integers with and the usual operations are not a model of . Axiom 1 fails, because .
is the Peano axioms without the induction scheme, with axiom 3 added in its place. does not prove ; there are models of in which addition is not commutative. proves every true sentence of the form with quantifier-free, and every computable function is representable in .
