Definition
Let be a partially ordered set. A subset is Scott-open if:
- is an upper set: if and , then ;
- is inaccessible by directed suprema: for every directed subset that has a supremum with , the set is nonempty.
The Scott-open sets form a topology on , the Scott topology.
Remarks
The Scott topology makes a topological space that is , and its specialization preorder is the order ; the closure of is . It is only when the order is trivial. Example: in , the set is Scott-open. It is an upper set, and a directed with either contains its supremum, or is infinite and so contains some . Non-example: in the same poset, is an upper set but is not Scott-open, since has supremum and . Closed sets of the Scott topology are the down-sets closed under suprema of directed subsets.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
