Second sound
Summary
Second sound is the propagation of heat as a wave, with a definite speed, instead of by diffusion. It is a temperature and entropy wave, while ordinary sound is a pressure and density wave. It was first found in superfluid helium-4, and later in some very pure crystals at low temperature. The Cattaneo–Vernotte equation gives a simple continuum model of such waves.
