Symmetric operator
Summary
A symmetric operator is a densely defined linear operator on a Hilbert space with for all in its domain. For bounded operators defined on the whole space, symmetric is the same as self-adjoint. For unbounded operators, such as differential operators, symmetry is weaker than self-adjointness. The gap between the two is the subject of the theory of self-adjoint extensions.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
