Definition
Let be a set, let be a metric space, and let be the set of all maps from to . The uniform metric on is The topology of uniform convergence on is the metric topology of . On a subset of , it is the subspace topology.
Remarks
The cut-off at makes finite even for unbounded maps; it does not change which sequences converge. A sequence converges to in this topology if and only if uniformly on . On bounded maps, the sup metric gives the same topology. If is complete, then is complete. If is a topological space, the set of continuous maps is closed in , since a uniform limit of continuous maps is continuous.
Example: on , let . Then , so in this topology.
Non-example: let on and . Then pointwise, but for every , since takes values close to near . So converges in the topology of pointwise convergence, but not in the topology of uniform convergence.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
