Uniform structure of a topological group

Summary

Every topological group carries natural uniform structures that induce its topology. The left uniformity declares xx and yy close when x−1yx^{-1} y is close to the identity, and the right uniformity uses yx−1y x^{-1} instead. These uniformities give meaning to Cauchy nets, uniform continuity and completeness without any metric. For abelian groups the two uniformities agree.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
