Weyl–Titchmarsh theory

Summary

Weyl–Titchmarsh theory is the spectral theory of singular Sturm–Liouville operators built on the Weyl–Titchmarsh function m(z)m(z). The function mm records the boundary values of the square integrable solution of −y′′+qy=zy-y'' + q y = z y at the regular end. It is a Herglotz function, and the measure in its integral representation is the spectral measure of the operator. So the spectrum, the eigenfunction expansion and, by the Borg–Marchenko theorem, even the potential qq can be read off from mm. The theory goes back to Hermann Weyl and was developed by Edward Charles Titchmarsh.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
