Wheeler–DeWitt equation
Summary
The Wheeler–DeWitt equation is the quantum version of the Hamiltonian constraint of general relativity. It is a functional differential equation for a wave function of the geometry of space, called the wave function of the universe. Bryce DeWitt published it in 1967, after discussions with John Wheeler. It contains no time derivative, which is the origin of the problem of time in canonical quantum gravity.
