Abelian algebra
Builds on Term operationCommutator theory
Definition
Let be an algebra. The algebra is abelian if the following holds. For every , every -ary term operation of , all elements and all tuples :
Remarks
In the language of commutator theory, is abelian if and only if , where and are the largest and the least congruences of . Example: every module over a ring is abelian. Each term operation has the form with . So means , and this gives for every . Non-example: a lattice with elements is not abelian. Take , , and : then , but . A group is abelian in this sense exactly when it is commutative.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
