Acoustic wave equation
Summary
The acoustic wave equation is the wave equation that governs small pressure disturbances in a fluid at rest. It comes from the equations of compressible flow by linearising about a uniform state of rest. Its wave speed is the speed of sound of the fluid. It is the basic model of sound in air and in water.
