Algebra over a field
Summary
An algebra over a field is a vector space over with a bilinear multiplication. It is the case of a nonassociative algebra where the ring of scalars is a field. Many authors also require the product to be associative and to have a unit; in the theory of nonassociative algebras neither is assumed. Once a basis is chosen, the product is described by its structure constants.
