Measure and integration Definition
Choquet integral
Definition
Let be a measurable space, and let be a fuzzy measure. Let be measurable. The Choquet integral of with respect to is The function is non-increasing, so the right side is a well-defined Lebesgue integral with value in .
Remarks
If takes the values , then . If is a measure, the Choquet integral equals the Lebesgue integral, by the layer cake representation. Example: let with all subsets, and . Then is monotone with , and the indicators and have Choquet integral . Their sum has Choquet integral , so the integral is not additive. Non-example: if is not measurable, some set lies outside , so is not defined on it and the formula makes no sense. Some authors use ; this changes the integrand at only countably many , so the integral is the same.
