Coequalizer

Summary

The coequalizer of two parallel morphisms f,g ⁣:X→Yf, g \colon X \to Y in a category is a universal morphism q ⁣:Y→Qq \colon Y \to Q with q∘f=q∘gq \circ f = q \circ g. It is the colimit of the diagram formed by ff and gg, and it is dual to the equalizer. In sets it is the quotient of YY that identifies f(x)f(x) with g(x)g(x) for each xx. In abelian groups it is the cokernel of f−gf - g.
