Einasto profile
Builds on Galaxy rotation curveIncomplete gamma functionGamma function
Example
Let , and . The Einasto profile is the spherical density Its logarithmic slope is so the slope varies continuously with radius and equals exactly at , where .
The mass inside radius , with , is where is the lower incomplete gamma function. Check: substituting in gives .
Remarks
As , tends to the gamma function value , so unlike the Navarro–Frenk–White profile the total mass is finite. The central density is finite as well, equal to . The profile has the same form as the Sérsic law for surface brightness, applied to a three-dimensional density. Simulated dark matter halos are fitted by the Einasto profile with small values of , and the fit is often better than with the Navarro–Frenk–White profile. The circular speed , with the gravitational constant, gives the rotation curve of such a halo.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
