Galaxy rotation curve
Summary
The rotation curve of a disc galaxy gives the speed of stars and gas on circular orbits as a function of radius. It measures how much mass lies inside each radius. Observed rotation curves stay roughly flat far beyond the visible disc, which is a main piece of evidence for dark matter.
