Example
The Einstein–de Sitter universe is the spatially flat Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker metric filled with pressureless dust and with no cosmological constant. In units with , its scale factor, Hubble parameter and density are
Check with the Friedmann equations for , , . The first reads : the left side is and the right side is . The second reads : the left side is and the right side is .
Remarks
The density equals the critical density at all times, so the density parameter is . The age of the universe at the time when the Hubble parameter is is . The deceleration parameter is , and the particle horizon has proper distance . Einstein and de Sitter proposed the model together in 1932. It is a good approximation to the matter-dominated era of the Lambda-CDM model.
