Electric displacement field
Summary
The electric displacement field is the vector field , built from the electric field and the polarization density . Its divergence is the density of free charge only, with the bound charge of the material removed. This makes Gauss's law in matter depend only on the charges one controls. In a linear medium is proportional to , and the factor is the permittivity.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
