Filtration of a module

Summary

A filtration of a module MM is a decreasing sequence of submodules M=M0⊇M1⊇M2⊇⋯M = M_0 \supseteq M_1 \supseteq M_2 \supseteq \cdots. For an ideal II, an II-filtration is one with IMn⊆Mn+1I M_n \subseteq M_{n+1}, and it is stable when equality holds from some point on. The basic example is the II-adic filtration Mn=InMM_n = I^n M; filtrations lead to the associated graded ring, the II-adic topology and the Artin–Rees lemma.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
