Hadamard product
Builds on MatrixCommutative ring
Definition
Let be a commutative ring and let . Let and be matrices over . The Hadamard product of and is the matrix with entries for and .
Remarks
Example: for and , the entries of are , and , so . Non-example: a matrix and a matrix have no Hadamard product, because the two matrices must have the same size. The Hadamard product is commutative, associative and distributive over addition. Its identity element is the matrix with all entries , not the identity matrix. Other notations are and .
