Harish-Chandra's Schwartz space

Summary

Harish-Chandra's Schwartz space 𝒞(G)\mathcal{C}(G) is a space of smooth, rapidly decreasing functions on a semisimple Lie group GG. It plays the role that the Schwartz space plays on ℝn\R^n, but the decay is measured against Harish-Chandra's function Ξ\Xi rather than against polynomials. It contains the smooth compactly supported functions and lies in L2(G)L^2(G). Harish-Chandra used it to define tempered distributions on GG and to prove the Harish-Chandra Plancherel theorem.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
