Definition

Let KK be a field and let HH be a Hopf algebra over KK with comultiplication Δ\Delta. A right Hopf module over HH is a vector space MM over KK such that:

  1. MM is a right HH-module, with action m⊗h↦m⋅hm \otimes h \mapsto m \cdot h.
  2. MM is a right HH-comodule, with coaction ρ ⁣:M→M⊗H\rho \colon M \to M \otimes H.
  3. For all m∈Mm \in M and h∈Hh \in H, in Sweedler notation, ρ(m⋅h)=∑m(0)⋅h(1)⊗m(1)h(2).\rho(m \cdot h) = \sum m_{(0)} \cdot h_{(1)} \otimes m_{(1)} h_{(2)}.

The coinvariants of MM are the elements of McoH={m∈M:ρ(m)=m⊗1}M^{\mathrm{co}H} = \set{m \in M : \rho(m) = m \otimes 1}.

Remarks

Clause 3 says that ρ\rho is a module map when M⊗HM \otimes H carries the action (m⊗x)⋅h=∑m⋅h(1)⊗xh(2)(m \otimes x) \cdot h = \sum m \cdot h_{(1)} \otimes x h_{(2)}. Example: for a vector space VV, the space M=V⊗HM = V \otimes H with (v⊗x)⋅h=v⊗xh(v \otimes x) \cdot h = v \otimes xh and ρ(v⊗x)=∑v⊗x(1)⊗x(2)\rho(v \otimes x) = \sum v \otimes x_{(1)} \otimes x_{(2)}. Clause 3 holds because Δ(xh)=Δ(x)Δ(h)\Delta(xh) = \Delta(x)\Delta(h). Non-example: H=KGH = KG for a group G≠1G \ne 1, acting on itself by multiplication, with the coaction ρ(x)=x⊗1\rho(x) = x \otimes 1. This is a module and a comodule, but for g≠1g \ne 1 in GG, ρ(1⋅g)=g⊗1\rho(1 \cdot g) = g \otimes 1 while the right side of clause 3 is g⊗gg \otimes g. The fundamental theorem of Hopf modules states that the map McoH⊗H→MM^{\mathrm{co}H} \otimes H \to M, m⊗h↦m⋅hm \otimes h \mapsto m \cdot h, is an isomorphism of Hopf modules.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
