Ideal MHD equations
Summary
The ideal MHD equations describe a perfectly conducting, inviscid, compressible fluid in a magnetic field. They are the limit of magnetohydrodynamics with no viscosity, no resistivity and no heat conduction. They form a nonlinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws. They are the basic model for the large-scale dynamics of plasmas in astrophysics and fusion devices. In ideal MHD the magnetic field is frozen into the fluid.
