Interpolation space
Builds on Banach spaceContinuous linear map
Definition
Let and be Banach spaces that are both continuously embedded in a Hausdorff topological vector space . The pair is a compatible couple. The spaces and are Banach spaces with the norms A Banach space is an intermediate space if , with both inclusions continuous. An intermediate space is an interpolation space if the following holds. Every linear map that restricts to bounded linear maps and maps into , and the restriction is bounded.
Remarks
Example: is an interpolation space. If , then with and . So .
Non-example: take and , and let , where . With the norm , the space is intermediate. The map has norm on and on . But is not in , since it differs from every multiple of by a sequence that is not summable.
By the Riesz–Thorin theorem, for a measure space and , the space is an interpolation space for the couple .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
