K2 of a field

Example
Let be a field. By Matsumoto's theorem, is generated by symbols with , subject to bimultiplicativity and .
Finite fields: for every finite field . Check: the group is cyclic with a generator , so is generated by . From one gets , and , so . If is even, with odd, so . If is odd, a counting argument gives such that and are both non-squares, that is, odd powers of . Then with odd, so again .
The real numbers: in . Check: the real Hilbert symbol is a Steinberg symbol, so it induces a homomorphism , and it sends to .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
