Definition
Fix a Gödel numbering of the programs for partial recursive functions of one argument. Fix also a coding of finite sequences of natural numbers by natural numbers. Let denote the partial function computed by the program with number . Kleene's T predicate is the relation defined as follows. The triple is in if and only if the following holds. The number is the number of a program, and codes a complete halting computation of that program on input . For each there is a similar relation for programs with arguments.
Remarks
Kleene's normal form theorem says two things. First, is primitive recursive. Second, there is a primitive recursive function such that for all and . Here means that both sides are undefined, or both are defined and equal.
Example: if is a program for the successor function, then for each there is a with , and for the least such .
Non-example: if is a program that never halts, then fails for all and , since no codes a halting computation.
The halting set equals , so it is in the arithmetical hierarchy.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
