Kronecker's lemma
Builds on Convergent seriesConvergent sequenceMonotone sequence
Statement
Let be a real sequence such that the series converges. Let be a monotone sequence of real numbers with and . Then
Remarks
Let be the tails of the series, so with . Summation by parts writes as plus a weighted average of with weights . These weights are nonnegative, their sum is at most , and each fixed weight tends to , so the average tends to because . Example: with , if converges, then .

For a student
The main use is in probability. To prove a strong law of large numbers, one shows that converges almost surely, and Kronecker's lemma with then gives . The proof is a summation by parts followed by an averaging argument, as in the Stolz–Cesàro theorem.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
