Lattice gas
Builds on Ising modelGrand canonical ensemble
Example
Let be a finite box of with periodic boundary conditions, so that each site has nearest neighbours. Let be the attraction between neighbouring particles, the chemical potential and the inverse temperature. A configuration is , where means that the site holds a particle. Its energy is where the first sum runs over nearest-neighbour pairs. The lattice gas is the probability measure on proportional to . It is a grand canonical ensemble of particles that sit on sites, at most one per site.
Remarks
The substitution with turns it into the Ising model. Indeed , and each site lies in nearest-neighbour pairs. So with and . Thus the liquid-gas transition of the lattice gas corresponds to the magnetization transition of the Ising model, and the particle density corresponds to , where is the magnetization.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
