Lee–Yang zeros
Builds on Ising modelGraph
Definition
Let be a finite graph with vertices, with real couplings for , and let . The partition function of the Ising model on with field is Let , and let be the number of vertices with . Then , where is a polynomial of degree in . The Lee–Yang zeros of the model are the zeros of in .
Remarks
The identity holds since . The coefficients of are positive, so has no zero on , which is the set of values of for real .
Example: two vertices joined by one edge with coupling . Then , whose roots satisfy when . This agrees with the Lee–Yang theorem, which says that all zeros lie on when every .
Non-example: the zeros of as a function of a complex inverse temperature at fixed are not Lee–Yang zeros. They are called Fisher zeros and need not lie on a circle. For in the example above, the roots are real and negative with product , so they are off the unit circle.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
