Liouville function
Definition
The Liouville function is the arithmetic function given by for each positive integer . Here is the number of prime factors of n counted with multiplicity.
Remarks
For example, , and . The function is completely multiplicative, since is completely additive. The sum is if is a perfect square, and otherwise. On squarefree integers, agrees with the Möbius function.
Explanations
L1 human
The Liouville function is when has an even number of prime factors, counted with repeats, and when the number is odd. Unlike the Möbius function, it is never .
