Modular Lie algebra

Summary

A modular Lie algebra is a Lie algebra over a field of positive characteristic. Many basic theorems of characteristic zero fail for them, such as Lie's theorem and Weyl's theorem on complete reducibility. Their study is needed for algebraic groups over finite fields and for questions on finite groups such as the restricted Burnside problem. The simple ones over algebraically closed fields of characteristic p>3p > 3 have been classified.
