K-theory K1 and Whitehead groups Concept

NK groups

Summary

The groups NKn(R)NK_n(R) measure how far the K-theory of a polynomial ring R[t]R[t] differs from the K-theory of RR. The group Kn(R[t])K_n(R[t]) splits as Kn(R)⊕NKn(R)K_n(R) \oplus NK_n(R). They vanish when RR is regular Noetherian, which is the homotopy invariance of K-theory. They appear twice in the fundamental theorem for Laurent polynomial rings, and they are often large when they are not zero.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
