Measure and integration Definition
Rectifiable set
Builds on Hausdorff measureLipschitz map
Definition
Let and be integers with , and let be the -dimensional Hausdorff measure on . A set is -rectifiable if there are Lipschitz maps , for , such that A set is purely -unrectifiable if for every -rectifiable set .
Remarks
This is the countable rectifiability of Federer and Mattila. Some authors also require , or use maps instead of Lipschitz maps; the second change gives the same class of sets. Example: the unit circle is -rectifiable, since the Lipschitz map satisfies . Non-example: the unit square is not -rectifiable. Each set has -finite measure, so it has Lebesgue measure zero in . Hence has positive area, and so its measure is infinite, not zero. The image of a rectifiable curve is -rectifiable.

What this page needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
